Before and After Transformations: Judy's Custom Jewelry Story

Jewelry often reminds you of the moments and people that helped shape your life. For me, it was my mother’s diamond. She passed away in 1991 from breast cancer at the age of 54, and this diamond had been hers for 33 years. I knew I wanted to do something meaningful with it when it was passed down to me.

But finding the right setting wasn’t easy. Over the years, I tried different rings. One was too flashy, another too clunky, and the next just didn’t feel right. So, the diamond ended up sitting in my jewelry box, waiting for the perfect design—something timeless, understated, and true to her memory.

When G Marie hosted a Single Stone trunk show, I wasn’t planning to find a solution that day, but their designs stopped me in my tracks. Their vintage-inspired craftsmanship and commitment to quality were exactly what I’d been searching for. And knowing they handcrafted everything in Los Angeles gave it an even more personal touch.

I chose the Polly Drop necklace. Its 18KT yellow gold chain is adjustable, making it easy to wear, and my mother's diamond is set in platinum, offering a subtle contrast between the metals. The combination felt modern but classic—exactly how I wanted this piece to feel.

When I saw the finished necklace, I knew it was worth the wait. It’s beautiful without being overdone, and it fits perfectly into my daily life. It’s not just something I’ll wear on special occasions—it’s something I’ll reach for again and again. My mother’s diamond now has the home it was always meant to have, and with it, a new chapter begins.
