Meet Robert Procop— a gem world legend

Meet Robert Procop— a gem world legend

Event spotlight · June 2026

We are thrilled to welcome internationally recognized gem expert and jewelry designer Robert Procop as a special guest at our upcoming evening, Where Art Meets Adornment, hosted in collaboration with the Chrysler Museum.

With more than five decades in the gem and jewelry world, Robert Procop has built a reputation that few in the industry can match. His journey began in his teenage years at a pawn shop in Los Angeles — a chance encounter with gemstones that would shape an extraordinary career. Over time, those stones grew rarer and more remarkable, and so did the commissions. He has created pieces for U.S. presidents, royalty, and some of Hollywood's most recognizable names.

"A kid who started out as a rock collector in the Valley" — now one of the most celebrated figures in the gem world.

Procop's influence goes well beyond the bench. He has served as CEO of the historic London house Asprey & Garrard, collaborated with Angelina Jolie on a philanthropic jewelry collection, and worked with Brad Pitt to design one of the most-talked-about engagement rings in Hollywood history. His partnership with Brooke Shields raised funds for survivors of domestic abuse, and he helped fund the construction of a school in Sri Lanka.

His work has also found a permanent home in major museums. He has collaborated with the Smithsonian Institution's National Gem Collection and, most recently, was honored by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County — which renamed its Gem and Mineral Hall in his recognition. He currently holds a seat on their board of trustees and is leading the redesign of the newly named hall.

His current studio maintains ateliers in both Beverly Hills and Paris, and he continues to acquire rare gemstones from the source — including a sapphire mine in Montana — bringing a level of vertical integration rare in fine jewelry.
