A Letter From Gale
Dearest friends—and all of you are friends—the moment you engage with G Marie you are so very welcome to our life of passion and pleasure for sharing gems and jewelry, and this sharing creates friendships.
I'm 73 August 7. It seems like a very long and convoluted path to reach this point in life and be able to do what I love: sharing beautiful objects of art—jewelry—with everyone who appreciates the joy of acquiring, sharing and wearing gems. As I look back and reflect on my path to now I feel blessed to be able to share with you. So, come join me on the journey to whatever path we may take, adorned by gems of beauty and joy.
I've been asked to share my reasons for the collections you see in the G Marie cases. The first reason is to present the artist's coherent statement through the visually coordinated feast of their jewelry. As I walk the shows, meet the artists, and consider their jewelry, I am drawn by the unique artistic statement each makes in their overall collection. So, I stop, and talk, and touch. The talk and touch are the second reason to present their work to you, our friends and clients. The artists are passionate and spend their lives creating beauty with metal, stones and stories. The stories are an integral part of their artistry. Each experience of their lives, as told in stories, impacts the nuances of the final bracelet, ring, brooch, or necklace presented. Its a human connection, talk.
Touch, another human connection, is so very important, that's the moment everything becomes real: the weight, the heft, the texture, the glitter and shine soothing to the hand and fingertips at that first meeting of skin and metal or stone. That is the moment I select the collection. It's the visual elements, the stories, and the touch that create the bond I find with each artist, and this bond provides me with the courage to bring these collections to G Marie for your consideration and selection.
I'm not selecting only for you, the wearer, but I am selecting for me at the same time. Each piece must resonate with me as something worth sharing before I believe it will resonate with you. We, G Marie, are your guardians against the overwhelming cacophony of jewelry merchandise inventories. I only select jewelry artistry done in limited amounts with superb construction and materials. G Marie is not a general jewelry store, its uniqueness lies in this presentation. It is our strength and passion to find the best beauty for you, while ensuring you won't see them everywhere you wander on others.
Now to philosophy...do I have one? Yep, I realized that as I wrote. I believe in the beauty of life, I believe that jewelry enhances that feeling of beauty, and I believe that the human interactions of sharing jewelry, via gift to one's self or to another, enhance our lives. It's really that simple for me, I believe in the joy of sharing the experience of what jewelry can be. Think about it: I'm 73, live with a beloved dog, generally solo, and my social life is enhanced by my interactions with you, our friends and clients. I meet you when you are happy, so happy to be sharing jewelry with the ones you love or for yourself. It's a beautiful way to experience life, living with humans in a moment of happiness. I believe I'm blessed by this opportunity and I thank you for taking the time to visit and purchase jewelry at G Marie.
We're approximately 3 yrs old now, G Marie that is, and lots of plans, and jewelry, to share as time passes, and it will my friends, just ask me. August will be a birthday bash for all of us to share. We are going to have a sale, a great sale, a sale of jewelry that suggests, just suggests mind you, that perhaps some of my selected collections of jewelry art haven't found the right person to resonate with yet. BTW, and I really mean this, if you look at or touch a piece of jewelry and it does not resonate with you, do not buy it. What's the point, only buy anything that makes you feel wonderful, that's it, that's my entire sales pitch, don't buy if you are ambivalent, ever.
